Product details

Terra Sancta means special place - our goal to capture the essence of our privileged part of the world in each Terra Sancta wine. With four vineyards and a winery based in the premium Central Otago subregion of Bannockburn, our soul is the Terra Sancta Estate on Felton Road - the oldest vineyard in the sub-region, originating in 1991.

Every wine is consistently linked to a particular part of Terra Sancta and like our unique labels, crafted to convey a story of provenance.  "Planted by Gary Andres, an Oregon Pinot Noir pioneer, who wanted to create a Pinot Noir to rival the great Burgundies, the block is named after the shingle beach below the block where, in the 1860s, pounds of gold were panned from the Kawarau River.

The distinctive Shingle Beach block is one of only three blocks in Central Otago planted in a Burgundian style at three times the average density found in New Zealand. This density of planting, combined with unique aspects of site, including soils rich in schist gravels and limestone; and the block’s north west aspect, ensuring long sunlight hours, result in a Pinot Noir with great concentration, distinctive structure and texture.

One of Terra Sancta’s three single block Pinot Noir, it is made organically, naturally fermented and bottled unfined and unfiltered. AWARDS: *5 STARS - Michael Cooper’s Buyer’s Guide to NZ Wines 2016; 93/100 - 5 STARS - Bob Campbell 2017; 90/100 - Wine Front; Silver Medal - International Wine and Spirit Competition 2017.
