The material was first used commercially during World War II in the B-17 bomber aircraft where it was used to help create glass –reinforced plastic fuel tanks. CR-39 is a plastic polymer and is commonly used in the manufacture of sunglass lenses and offers excellent optics. The lenses are category 3 sunglass lenses and offer 100% UV protection. Polarised.
