Product details

This fine-art print features a young takahe, Te Awhiorangi, who unexpectedly hatched at Zealandia eco-sanctuary to a pair of retired "advocate" birds. A determined escape artist, he kept his rangers on their toes—and his parents on edge! Takahe are one of our most endangered birds, so rare that they were once thought to be extinct. You can now see this extraordinary taonga species in many wildlife sanctuaries around New Zealand.

Based on an original photograph by Judi, this artwork was transformed with digital artistry into a soft, sketchy, pastel-style painting. It is available as a limited-edition print on archival fine-art paper in sizes large (40x40cm, edition of 20) and extra-large (80x80cm, edition of 10), with an additional white margin. Each piece is hand-signed, editioned, and printed with archival inks on heavyweight paper and comes with a signed certificate of authenticity. Prints are shipped rolled using acid-free packaging.

Judi Lapsley Miller is a wildlife conservation artist from Poneke – Wellington. A 10% donation from Judi's proceeds for this piece supports conservation efforts at Zealandia ecosanctuary.
