The Fantail is a small, chatty bird, endemic to New Zealand. They're commonly seen darting around parks and native bush. Fantails are busy, friendly and inquisitive birds with distinctive fan-like tail feathers for suprising prey.

Created by local artist Cathy Hansby, drawn freehand using a digital tablet and desktop. Her modern style captures the personality of our unique wildlife, with bold colour and subtle detail. Cathy's art supports NZ Forest & Bird with their conservation work. This image features a dusky blue background with dove grey leaves, and chocolate tones.
